Deregistering in the Netherlands
If you stay abroad for more than eight months within a year, you deregister with your municipality. You can do this from five days before departure.
Registering with the Belgian municipality
Report to the population office of your new municipality shortly after arrival. Most municipalities apply a term of eight working days. A local police officer then visits to confirm your address.
Your car
Once you live in Belgium, you register your car with the DIV and receive a Belgian number plate.
Low-emission zones
Antwerp, Brussels and Ghent have a low-emission zone. Check in advance whether your own car is allowed in.
Parking and loading at the new address
The moving truck needs space in front of the door. In Belgium you request a temporary parking ban from the municipality, which places the signs or has them placed. During the survey we agree who arranges this and when the signs need to be up.
From Belgium to the Netherlands
We drive the route in both directions. If you move from Belgium to the Netherlands, you register with your new municipality within five days of arrival if you stay longer than four months.
