What you arrange yourself when moving to Germany

Deregistering in the Netherlands
If you stay abroad for more than eight months within a year, you deregister with your municipality. You can do this from five days before departure.
Anmeldung at the Bürgeramt
Within 14 days of moving in you register your address at the Bürgeramt or Einwohnermeldeamt. Bring a Wohnungsgeberbestätigung, the confirmation from your landlord.
Your car
Once you live in Germany, you re-register your car at the Kfz-Zulassungsstelle of your town.
Umweltzone
Many German cities have an Umweltzone. Your car needs an Umweltplakette there, also with a foreign number plate.
Rundfunkbeitrag
After the Anmeldung you receive a letter about the Rundfunkbeitrag, the mandatory broadcasting fee per household.
Parking and loading at the new address
In German cities you reserve space for the moving truck with a Halteverbotszone. You request it from the municipal traffic authority, and the signs must be in place several days in advance. During the survey we agree who files the request.
From Germany to the Netherlands
We drive the route in both directions. If you move from Germany to the Netherlands, you register with your new municipality within five days of arrival if you stay longer than four months.

What does moving to Germany cost?

No. The Netherlands and Germany are both EU members. There are no customs formalities and no import duties on your own household goods.
What is a Wohnungsgeberbestätigung?
It is a statement in which your landlord or the owner confirms that you have moved into the address. You need this form for the Anmeldung at the Bürgeramt.
Are my belongings insured during transport?
Yes. Transport is insured through the All-in Verhuizerspolis of TVM verzekeringen. The conditions are set out in our general terms.
